A4E Telescopes Arrive in Libya!

Three telescopes are lined up on a grassy field in front of a row of small tents at a space camp for students.

Telescopes purchased through an Astronomy for Equity crowdfunding campaign for middle school astronomy clubs have arrived after the long sea voyage from the US to Libya! Public activities with the telescopes will begin later in June after exams and the end of the school year. The Libyan government requires permits for their use at these activities for security reasons. The month of Ramadan, the Eid holiday that followed, and school exams have delayed their regular use, however the first space camp ever held in Libya did use the one that arrived in Benghazi. We’ll write more about the space camp later.
