Astronomy for Equity

Cassondra Holmes is a dedicated amateur astronomer and the founder of Stargazer Events, an LA-based mobile observatory committed to bringing the wonders of the night sky directly to others. With a passion for outreach, Cassondra’s mission is to share the stars with as many people as possible, fostering curiosity and imagination while creating moments that can change lives.

In addition to her work with Stargazer Events, Cassondra serves as a project manager for Astronomy for Equity, where she oversees several impactful projects, including the Big Impact Astronomy Podcast, the eclipse glasses for STEM education initiative, the Blind and Low Vision in Astronomy program, and crowdfunding campaigns aimed at donating telescopes to marginalized and unserved communities around the world.

She is also an active volunteer and member of the Los Angeles Astronomical Society, Dark Sky International, and the Planetary Society. Her dedication to outreach was recognized with the LA Astronomical Society’s Outreach Award, highlighting her commitment to making astronomy more accessible and inspiring countless people to look up and wonder. A graduate of the University of South Alabama with a degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology, Cassondra’s diverse background has shaped her unique approach to public engagement and education.
