Documentary to Follow A4E Team Taking Telescopes to Ukrainian Astronomy Students

A new documentary will follow a team from Astronomy for Equity (A4E) on a trip to Ukraine taking telescopes to astronomy students in the war-torn country. It’s a story of resilience and hope through astronomy, with the darkness of conflict and blackouts transformed into an opportunity for discovery and wonder.

Astronomy students in Ukraine found a silver lining in the power outages brought by the war as the stars shined brightly above their darkened cities. Hoping to take advantage of this unexpected opportunity for hope and inspiration, they reached out to A4E for telescopes.

The A4E team will visit schools that were sent telescopes in 2023 through partner Earthlings Hub and take telescopes for others, offer astronomy lessons, and join in stargazing sessions. The documentary film, produced by award-winning Dean Love Productions, will capture this inspiring journey, showcasing how in times of darkness the human spirit can find light and inspiration in the cosmos.

For updates from Ukraine as the adventure unfolds in November, behind-the-scenes content, and ways to support the project, subscribe to the mailing list or follow A4E on our social media channels.
